Dunstable Downs

This is the road at the foot of Dunstable Downs, heading towards the town from a postcard postmarked 1918. The village of Totternhoe would be on the other side of the fields on the left. Today, a dual carriageway ends at the corner, and a private road leads off to the right towards the airfield and hangars of the London Gliding Club. On the left is Wellhead, where a spring from the Downs used to supply enough water to provide an unofficial swimming pool for local youngsters.
